Fisher College Mission
To achieve excellence in teaching, research and service through innovative programs that enhance the effectiveness of business
Building On Leadership
For more than 80 years the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University has developed exceptional leaders who meet the challenges of a changing global economy.
The college began in 1916 as Ohio State 's College of Commerce . In addition to developing some of the state's foremost business programs, the college helped found AACSB International, the international accreditation organization for business schools. The college was renamed the Max M. Fisher College of Business in 1993 in honor of a major gift from Max M. Fisher, a leading industrialist, philanthropist and alumnus.
Today, more than 57,000 alumni and friends are part of Fisher College 's global network of business professionals.
A New Focus
Since the arrival of Dean Joseph A. Alutto in 1991, Fisher College has undergone what could be characterized as a "corporate turnaround.” It narrowed the focus of its programs to promote higher academic quality, and recruited and retained faculty to propel the college to the forefront of the nation's business schools, adding over 70 new faculty during this period.
The college completed a $100 million capital campaign for programmatic improvements and construction of a six-building integrated campus. Additional resources are raised each year.
Continuous Improvement
These changes have formed the groundwork for continuous improvements in both curriculum and programs. As a result, we have emphasized innovative approaches to learning and offered more opportunities for integrating theory and practice.
At the same time, the college has provided new resources to foster growth among faculty, establish extensive scholarship and fellowship opportunities for students and promote partnerships with international academic and corporate communities.
A Tradition of Excellence
Through its focused programs based on cutting edge faculty research, Fisher College offers the best in management education while providing access to the rich array of opportunities found at The Ohio State University.
The college's overall quality across programs is reflected in national rankings which place the Fisher College of Business among the top 20 business schools in the nation at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
